Thelma Wells Departs From Women of Faith With High Hopes

Dallas, TX: Since 1996, author and speaker Thelma Wells has graced the stage with her other “porch pals” at the Women of Faith (WOF) Conferences. In February, she graciously presented her final WOF speech with anticipation for the future.
“Every 12 years, God has reinvented my life,” Thelma said. ”For 12 years, I was privileged to speak to more than 400,000 women per year with the Women of Faith Conferences helping to ignite a spark of joy, peace, grace, freedom and love into their lives. Now, God is stretching me to depend on Him for new horizons and other fertile fields of ministry.”

“Amazing Freedom” was the theme for the 2007 WOF conferences, and it was there, at a National Convention in February, where she asked permission to “graduate” to the next phase of her life.

“With the permission of Mary Graham, President of Women of Faith, my porch pals, the technical crew and each of you, please give me permission to graduate from this assignment to another place of excitement and adventure,” Thelma announced.

“Freedom,” says Thelma, “comes when you are not dependent on any human being to design your life and your attitude for you; when you realize nobody is responsible for your happiness but you.”

She should know! Thelma overcame childhood abuse and poverty to become the happy, successful woman you see today. The first African-American woman to become an Assistant Vice President of a commercial bank in Dallas, Texas. Thelma went on to organize an international speaking and consulting company (for which she received the Small Business Administration’s Entrepreneur of the Year Award), earn a master’s degree, and become a college professor. In 2006, Thelma was awarded an honorary doctorate – but does not expect to be called “Dr. Wells.” In fact, she prefers the title, “Mama T.” “I’m old enough and experienced enough to have earned that title,” she says. Her new book, “What These Girls Knew,” looks at women in the Bible and what they have to tell us today.

Today, she is ready to step out and explore the many opportunities that God has prepared for her. She is a featured speaker with the Women in Christian Media association (www.womeninchristianmedia.org), a regular contributor to Extraordinary Women Conferences (www.ewomen.net), and a panelist on IQuestions.com.

Having been “reinvented,” this is not the last we will hear from Thelma Wells. “God has already opened so many doors that I stand honored and amazed,” Thelma said. “I believe this coming twelve years will be the best.”
