June Hunt, CSO & Founder, Hope For The Heart

June HuntHope For The Heart Founder & CSO (Chief Servant Officer) June Hunt is a dynamic Christian leader whose life work has yielded landmark contributions in the field of Christian counseling. An author, singer, and speaker, she founded Hope For The Heart in 1986. Throughout the two decades since then, the organization has offered hope and help through biblically-based counsel and encouragement to people in 60 countries and 20 languages.

Early family pain was the catalyst that shaped June's compassionate heart. Later, as a youth director, she became aware of the need for sound biblical counsel. This led June to a lifelong commitment to providing God's Truth for Today's Problems.

After years of teaching and research, she developed Counseling Through The Bible, a scripturally-based counseling course addressing approximately 100 topics, such as marriage and parenting, depression and anger, and stress and suicide. Inspired by this course, June authored and published the Biblical Counseling Keys, an in-depth, topical counseling library designed to “move people from wrong thinking to right thinking . . . and from wrong living to right living.”

These Counseling Keys have become the foundation for the ministry’s steady expansion, including the 2002 creation of the Hope Biblical Counseling Institute (BCI) initiated by The Criswell College, where June earned her Master of Arts degree in counseling. Each three-hour or six-hour conference in the BCI provides training to help laypeople, pastors, counselors, and other caring Christians meet the very real needs of those around them. Each year, June leads 20 BCI conferences that deal with important and relevant topics.

The Counseling Keys are also the foundation for the ministry’s two popular radio programs, Hope For The Heart and Hope In The Night. Hope For The Heart is an award-winning broadcast heard daily across America; combined, the broadcasts air on more than 300 outlets across America and 100 stations internationally. Hope In The Night is June’s live two-hour call-in counseling program that helps people untie their tangled problems with biblical hope and practical help. Through her warmth, wisdom, and gentle candor, June builds penetrating dialogues with listeners, often with life-changing results.

Still hard at work as an author, June has written numerous books, including the popular devotional, Seeing Yourself Through God's Eyes, as well as and Healing the Hurting Heart and Bonding with Your Teen through Boundaries, which presents creative approaches to help parents tackle 35 of the most challenging situations they face with their teenagers. Caring for a Loved One with Cancer comes from her own experience as a cancer survivor and contains a personal view of how to better express love and compassion to a loved one with cancer. Her book How to Forgive…When You Don’t Feel Like It is impacting many. June is also a contributor to the Soul Care Bible and the Women's Devotional Bible. Counseling Through Your Bible Handbook (released in March 2008 by Harvest House), is a distillation of 50 of the ministry’s most popular Counseling Keys. Her newest book, also released by Harvest House is Keeping Your Cool… When Your Anger Is Hot.

June’s work has earned her accolades from the Christian and broadcasting communities. In 1986 the National Radio Broadcasters (NRB) honored Hope For The Heart as the “Best New Radio Program” with the Genesis Award. The NRB recognized the broadcast again in 1989—this time with the “Radio Program of the Year” award. In 1991 June was presented with an honorary Doctor of Law degree by The Criswell College, and in 1993 she was presented with an honorary Doctorate in Literature from Dallas Baptist University. In addition, selected Biblical Counseling Keys in Russian received the coveted 2002 “Best Christian Book of the Year” award. She is also the recipient of Women In Christian Media’s “Excellence in Communications” Award for 2008.

Whether writing, speaking, or singing, June Hunt is dedicated to presenting God’s Truth for Today’s Problems. Through her life-transforming approach, inspired by Romans 12:2, she readily shares the truth that a changed mind produces a changed heart . . . and a changed heart produces a changed life.
