It was an exciting trip to San Jose and Ontario, California this past weekend. The two tapings with the Church Communication Network were pleasing to God because so many people were helped. I talked about being Ready To Win Over Depression (my latest book) and people were inspired and encouraged that they don’t have to suffer from situational or reactive depression. You can get copy of the book from Family Christian Books, LifeWay books, Borders, Barnes and Noble or any of your favorite book stores or .com book stores.
My friend who was celebrating her 60th birthday picked me up and took me to her new home of one week. It is beautiful. Everybody was amazed at the fact her party turned out to be a prayer and praise fest with too much food to eat. We had a hallelujah good time!!!
The plane ride home was enhanced by a baby crying almost all the way until he cried himself to sleep; when he fell asleep, a barking dog in the pet area took his place and barked all the way to Dallas. Otherwise, we had an uneventful flight.
I’m secluding myself this week until I get all my recordings taped – I’ve got to work! Remember to visit my website (thelmawells.com) to book an excursion before the deadlines. Come pray, praise and play with us as we enjoy some up-close and personal time together. And yes, you can bring your husband if you want to.
“Bee” blessed and I’ll write again when my work is done for the week.

There is a scripture that comes to mind when I think about our responsibility as Christians through all of these trials and tribulations. It’s found in 1 Timothy 6:17-19 and says: Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.
So, what can we do?
1. Give! I remember in the 80’s when I went through a terrible financial time. I remember one day having only a few cents to my name, but God took care of me. I gave out of my need. I gave my clothes away, I gave 40 cents to people, and I continued tithing. It was hard – It was real hard. But, I was never hungry, thirsty or without shelter. (God’s provisions are his way of pouring out our blessings too!) After 7 years – Yes, I said 7 years – God restored my bank account and allowed me to give even more! So, why not try giving. Give what you have. Remember, Peter in Acts 3:6, “I have no silver and gold, but what I do have I give to you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk!”
2. Pray! Pray for the world, our government, our nation, our children, our homes, our neighbors. Last November when we had the 7 Days of Prayer webcasts, I heard testimony after testimony of the power of prayer. Families were reunited, hearts were healed and those without jobs were blessed with provisions. I believe in the power of prayer. Everyday I see my prayers being answered. So, if you are without funds to give — GIVE PRAYER.
3. Believe! Years ago, my oldest daughter was going through some difficult times and I challenged her on spending more time with Jesus and getting to know Him more intimately. What came out of that time was the sweetest journal of questions and answers. She began the journal with What is Faith? And she answered it with Hebrews 11:1, “Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.” Every question was answered simply with the Word of God. She duplicated it and gave it to seven of her dearest friends. But, I think it was most precious to her. She learned not to believe in her own desires or thoughts – but God’s. Why don’t you do the same. Write down your questions and only go to His Word for the answer. You’ll find what you need every time!
